Quantitative research at Heathrow airport

I went to Heathrow airport terminal 1 to terminal 5 to do survey to 100 people regarding airline’s sustainable activities.
I discovered that most young people (19 to 29) were willing to help me.
On the other hand, it was very hard to get a good response from elder people, as they were tired for traveling and conservative.
Most people said they are interested in green activities, but haven’t done any activities yet. Also, most people said they don’t know algae-based fuel and not sure if it is good to use as fuel. In addition, they didn’t know KLM sustainable activities. Therefore, if KLM does sustainable brand campaign, people would know the company’s good activity and will have interest of green issues more.

Book research

I went to the London Metropolitan University to collect information about airline companies for competitor’s analysis and books, which are related to sustainable activities. I read some books about the environmental regulation for transportation in Holland. I discovered that Holland has regulations to transportation system. Perhaps, it is influenced to KLM sustainable activities.

Tutorial with Jackie Perkins

I discussed Jackie about what I talked during the presentation.
I told Jackie about what I am going to ask to people at Heathrow Airport and KLM.

She suggested me to narrow down about my topic and has an evidence about why KLM decided to use algae-based fuel.

I am going to ask people about airline companies’ sustainable activities on the weekend. I will collect 100 samples if possible.

Who is KLM?

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (Dutch: Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij) is an airline company owned by the government. It is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 2004, KLM and Air France merged and named Air France-KLM, but they keep each brand identity and business. Air-France-KLM is part of the Sky Team alliance with other major airlines.

There are some images of KLM.

The coat of arms of the Netherlands is a combination of the coats of arms of the royal family (House of Orange-Nassau) and the arrows and sword of the 17th-century Dutch Republic.

email to KLM and reply

I asked questions to KLM public relation people to know why KLM is interested in algae based fuel by email.
As they have lack of staff, I couldn't get an answer directly, but they gave me some information about company and
environmentally friendly activities.
